Eric Holder, Obama’s Attorney General, can be described as an illegal arms dealer. The Obama Administration’s obsession with advancing gun control “under the radar” (Obama’s words) has led the anti-gun fanatics to plan and execute an operation that would allow the sale and exportation of firearms bought at gun shows in the US to drug cartels in Mexico. That makes Eric Holder an illegal arms dealer.
In a year that 173 peace officers died in the line of duty (2011), Eric Holder hastened to attribute this increase in fatalities to be a “devastating and unacceptable trend” caused by “illegal firearms.”
He added that ” . . . too many guns have fallen into the hands of those who are not legally permitted to possess them,” he explained.
This is something with which Holder’s Justice Department has considerable experience; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) is under the control of the Department of Justice (DOJ and they’ve provided “guns” to “those not legally permitted to possess them” in a well considered program called “Fast & Furious.”
Dubbed as “Operation Gun Walker” because it allowed agents for the Mexican drug cartels to purchase large amounts of guns and smuggle them across the border. BATFE supervised the straw purchases at this end and lost track of the guns smuggled until they show up at crime scenes, like the homicide scene of a US Immigration Agent.
While Holder is more than willing to blame the existence of the Bill of Rights for crimes against persons and the state, he’s unwilling to step forward and accept responsibility for knowingly arming a criminal group. How could that be?
Fast & Furious was designed to meet a need; that need was to provide support for General Barry McCaffrey’s report on Mexican drug violence and how that phenomenon is the responsibility of the American gun owner. The drug gangs, the General reported, get all their illegal hardware from US gun shows in Border States. When his position, quickly adopted by the current Administration and parroted by the US Secretary of State, was proven to be baseless, “Fast & Furious” fired up. It was the way to support the conclusion of a study already completed.
When “Fast & Furious” was exposed, Holder’s response is outrage toward those who caught them. What ever happened to accepting responsibility, Eric?
Meanwhile, our sympathies and prayers go out to the officers, their families and their agencies.
